Horse Jumping Tips For Beginners
Not everyone is keen on betting during the winter season. For one thing, most horses are kept from races due to the weather and not much action goes on inside the domes. Outside however is another matter. Jump racing is a sport that usually takes place in the cold season and despite its limited run per year, it still manages to draw a loyal audience and bettors from around the world.
Jump racing is basically racing along a track of set course outdoors that has the horse jumping over obstacles like fences, bars and other items. It is similar to the long hurdle runs in the Olympics.
Jump racing is not really for everyone because the mere fact that it is held out of areas add an element of loss that many people would not bother to taker up. Majority prefer the high stakes and glamour of the Cups and the local races to jump racing.
For those that would want to improve their game, players must keep in mind the following items in mind:
Tip : Study the motion of the horses as they run and jump. One can tell the state of the horses body and spirit by the way the backs and body curves when jumping. A stiff body indicates that the horse is being forced into the game and has not yet grown accustomed to it.
Tip : Look into the past races of the horse. Most horses that compete in jump racing are normally bred and trained to compete in these conditions. Some trainers and owners tend to throw in their horses who are not used ti the game prematurely and it shows in the outset of the match when some horses do not want to jump or go around the obstacles.
Tip : Narrow the choices to just two or three jumpers. By narrowing the field down to a few jumpers, once can then make bets on the best one. One should look at the weight factor. The weight factor is the weight carried by the horse, and not the horses bare weight. The horse can handle its own weight but when paired with a jockey, it is a different matter. Weight is crucial when in jumps for the horse may have to exert more effort and endure more stress when landing. This stress may cause extra points and precious time.
Tip : It is a fact that some horses are adverse to running on water. There are strains in the horses genetic makeup that seem to make them avoid water like the plague. Once a player has uncovered which horse has an aversion, the player can choose another horse, or lay a bet (losing horse).
As earlier stated, jump racing is not for every player and those who indulge in it are always in for a treat because it gets one blood flowing in the cold winter days.
